MikeWorldWide scores Flickr AOR | PR Week
NEW YORK: Photo- and video-sharing platform Flickr has appointed MikeWorldWide as its PR and communications AOR, effective in early June.
MWW will work to elevate Flickr’s relevance and resonance with a global audience through integrated storytelling and earned-first activations, the agency said in a statement. The relationship is designed to increase brand awareness and deepen emotional resonance with Flickr’s global audience.
Crystal Duarte, director of marketing at Flickr, approached the agency at the end of February, and the company selected MWW for the account at the beginning of May, according to the brand.
“MWW plans to help Flickr become a leader, not a follower, in the changing media landscape,” said Michael Kempner, CEO of MWW.
MWW will lead brand communications, earned and social media, and experiential strategy, using Flickr’s reputation as the “nicest place on the internet” to drive its work. Kempner said the agency will apply its reputation-first, culturally relevant approach to help Flickr stand out in an increasingly noisy digital landscape.
“This next chapter at Flickr builds on our creative foundation rooted in community, meaningful connection and building a better world through the power of photography,” said Duarte via emailed statement.
Budget details of the partnership were not disclosed.
MWW has started work on a campaign for Flickr, but Kempner said the firm could not disclose details.
Flickr launched in 2004 and was owned by Yahoo from 2005 until its sale to SmugMug in 2018.
MikeWorldWide is an independent PR agency with over 200 professionals in North America, EMEA and Latin America.
In February, MWW fully acquired Berk Communications, solidifying a 10-year partnership between the two agencies. In January, Mattress Firm also selected the agency as its PR AOR.
After a year-over-year revenue decline in 2023, the independent firm rebounded with revenue rising more than 16% globally to $57.1 million and nearly 19% in the U.S. to nearly $55.5 million last year, according to PRWeek’s Agency Business Report 2025.
The firm rebranded as MikeWorldWide from MWW in 2021.
